Most of us are rushed in the morning with getting to work or getting children to school, and often don’t make time for that all too important meal called breakfast – when we literally break the fast since our last meal the day before.

Here are some healthy breakfast ideas that are easy to prepare and perfect for mornings when you’re on the go:

Overnight Oats

Prepare the night before by combining rolled oats, chia seeds, almond milk (or milk of your choice), and your favourite toppings (berries, nuts, peanut butter etc.). Let it sit overnight in the fridge, and it’s ready to grab in the morning.

Greek Yogurt Parfait

Layer Greek yogurt with granola, fresh or dried fruit and a sprinkle of seeds or nuts. You can prepare this the night before or quickly assemble it in the morning for a high-protein, fibre-rich breakfast.

Smoothie

Blend spinach, frozen fruit, protein powder, almond milk and a spoonful of nut butter for a nutrient-packed breakfast. You can prepare ingredients in a bag the night before, so that they are ready to blend in the morning.

Whole Grain Toast with Nut Butter

Spread almond or peanut butter on whole-grain toast and top it with banana slices or chia seeds for an extra energy boost. This makes a quick breakfast and is packed with protein.

Avocado Toast

Mash avocado on whole-grain toast and top with a hard-boiled egg or sprinkle with chia seeds for added protein and fibre. You can pack the avocado and toast separately if you’re in a rush.

Energy Bars or Bites

Homemade or store-bought, look for energy bars or bites that are low in added sugars and high in protein and fibre. They can be a great, quick breakfast option when you’re short on time.

Fruit & Nut Butter Wrap

Spread almond or peanut butter on a whole-grain wrap, add banana slices or apple slices, and roll it up for a quick breakfast that’s both satisfying and nutritious.
