Creative Ways to Incorporate Movement

Here are five creative suggestions to encourage movement throughout the workday:

Desk Stretches and Yoga:

Incorporate simple stretches or yoga poses that can be done at, or near, your desk. Focus on stretching your neck, shoulders, back, and legs to relieve tension and improve circulation.

Walking Meetings:

Instead of sitting in a conference room, take your meetings outdoors or around the office while walking. This not only adds movement but can also stimulate more creative thinking.

Active Breaks:

Set a timer to remind yourself to stand up and move every hour. Use this time to walk around the office, do a few flights of stairs, or perform quick exercises like squats or lunges.

Desk Exercises:

Invest in resistance bands or small hand weights that can be used for short exercise routines at your desk. Perform exercises like bicep curls, shoulder presses, or leg extensions to keep muscles engaged.

Use of Standing Desks or Alternating Positions:

Alternate between sitting and standing throughout the day by using a standing desk or adjustable workstation. Standing periodically helps to reduce the negative impact of prolonged sitting on your body.
