What are the top five ways to keep a workforce engaged, considering the Future of Work landscape?
1. Clearly communicate the vision and purpose of the organisation both short and long term.
2. Then ensure every employee knows their purpose and that what they do every day contributes to the vision and purpose of the organisation, and their own personal goals.
3. Make flexible work the norm, not guided or restricted by a set of rules or procedures.
4. Have a regular dialogue with every employee, both in a group setting and one to one about how they are going, what they and their families need and how the organisation will ensure they have everything they need to perform at their best and have good work/life balance.
5. Focus on and have a plan for every aspect of the employer value proposition Organisations that continue to pay attention to everything that is relevant for employees will be those who have the best retention and employee engagement.
We agreed that Communication skills are essential for Leadership – in what ways does this positively impact the overall engagement of the organisation?
” Clear, honest, and genuine communication is key for any leader in an organisation. Leaders are not just the head of the organisation, but anyone who manages people and those who people in the organisation look to for support and guidance. Successful leaders have strong emotional intelligence and communicate the organisations’ purpose, and the purpose of every employee clearly so they can perform at their best with the comfort of knowing that what they do makes a difference and that they have a place in the organisation long term. This approach will create strong employee engagement, embed loyalty and motivation, and give the organisation the best chance to achieve sustainable business growth and success. “
